The Silent world by J.Y. Cousteau and Louis Malle had been a staggering experience for the earthlings switching "through the looking glass". OCEANS, the film by Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzeau is deeply moving us revealing the majesty of marine life already hurt before being known and understood.
For our association Longitude 181 Nature, which grounds on the International guidelines for responsible divers for the preservation of the marine life and a fairer resources-sharing, the film Oceans is founder: when filming in the last sanctuaries, Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzeau unveil a forgotten ocean, with an incredible richness and vitality.
We are 7 billions and, on the continents, we already renounced to the perfumes of wild life. At sea, it is still time to react but everyone's support is necessary.
Tough, only scientific reasoning are not enough to raise awareness, neither have they allowed stopping the disaster carried out for the profit of few people and to the detriment of long term general interest…
It led to the failure of Rio conference in 1992 and Johannesburg conference in 2000; also to the disappearance of Yang Tse Kiang's dolphins in 2007; and to the slaughter of sharks for their fins we are fighting against for years…
By the universality of its language and the emotional impact of the images, OCEANS arouses the irrepressible urge to enter in a new relationship with the creatures of the last wild area on earth.
No doubt Oceans will be a milestone in the discover and the knowledge of the oceans, as the Silent world was itself more than half a century ago.
